The Ministry of InReach at Pleasantview Baptist Church has at least two objectives – to involve members in meaningful personal ministry through their spiritual gifts and to establish caring relationships that minister to the needs of our people. New member classes and gift search studies are available to help us find our place of ministry in the body. Care groups, mentors, bereavement ministry, and prayer ministry combine to make sure that every member’s needs are recognized and met. The ministries presently organized and functioning are:
- Hospital and bereavement visitation
- Senior Care Ministry for the homebound
- Bereavement meals
- Prayer Chain (telephone and e-mail)
- Prayer list and group prayer
- Young at Heart (for senior adults)
- Divorce Care
- Breast Cancer Ministry
Other ministries will be added as needs arise and members respond by their commitment to become involved in programs designed to meet those needs.
The essence of our InReach Ministry is captured in some phrases from Isaiah 61:1-3. Isaiah said that the Lord had sent him to “bind up the brokenhearted”, “to comfort all who mourn”, “to appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness.” We can do no less at Pleasantview Baptist Church.
