Worship Ministry

About Our Music Ministry

Music has been used many different ways in the Bible. It has been used to calm kings, take men into battle, and dedicate the Temple. In fact, the Bible makes mention of music in one form or another some 839 times. Here at Pleasantview Baptist Church we use music to call people together to worship and to calm the hearts of the congregation before the message is given.

Our Music Ministry desires to further enhance the mission of the Church, which is "...making and maturing disciple for Jesus Christ, both at home and around the world..." through the singing and playing of music.

We have several different opportunities for service through the Ministry of Music:

Choir

The choir, consisting of teenagers and adults, is the cornerstone of our Music Ministry. Our choir has a membership of 50 and growing. Our choir sings just about every Sunday during the worship services. Special music (solo, duets, trios, etc.) is also used to enhance our worship together. We also put on two major productions per year at Easter and Christmas.

Choir rehearsals are on Sundays at 4:00 pm in the choir room (RM 116).

Orchestra

At PBC we have a dedicated group of musicians that give freely of their time and talent to elevate the worship experience of those attending each and every service.

The musicians are a capable and enthusiastic group that vary from high school age to senior adults.

We all consider it a great privilege and honor to use our God given gift to lift up His name at every opportunity.

Drama

Collaborating with the Music Ministry is the Drama Ministry. This involves people in the ministry that may not otherwise involve themselves in the Music Ministry. There are many people that support this ministry that are never seen under the spotlights: costume crew, make-up crew, lighting crew, set crew, prop crew, etc. What a great way to use a person's artistic talents to the glory of God!

Other areas available to serve are the Video Ministry and the Sound Ministry, a most critical aspect of the worship service.

As you can see, there are many areas to serve in the Music Ministry at PBC. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us and speak to Mark Hampton, Worship Pastor.
